deank's "ebootFIX" and "ebootMOD" are tools for Windows that will automatically generate playable backups for lower firmware versions and also generate individual EBOOT.BIN and .sprx/.self files, which again will be compatible with lower firmware versions. Drag and drop a PS3 game folder to ebootFIX.exe. to ebootFIX.exe.
EBOOT.BIN is the debug EBOOT. In the same game folder on your PS3 where you got the <GAME>.SELF file, rename the EBOOT.BIN file to EBOOT.BIN.BAK. This step is needed if you want to restore the game selection menu. Copy the debug EBOOT.BIN file to the game folder on your PS3. That's it!. The decrypted EBOOT.BIN appears in memstick\DUMP in PPSSPP's folder by default. They get renamed according to the ISO's name. I use madedit find in files command but I'm sure there are better searching tools. Madedit won't work if the files are compressed, though. So write a program that decompresses them and then use madedit.
jjjewel. This might help for decrypting eboot.bin. (The guide is for older version of JPCSP. It might be slightly different for different version but it should be similar.) And it depends on games. Not all games store main dialog text in eboot.bin. You'll need to go through files and locate the text.
